Designed by Frank O. Gehry & Associates in collaboration with the Croatian-Czech architect Vlado Milunic, the Dancing House or Ginger & Fred occupies a fine position by the Vltava River. Fred is the cylindrical-like volume that in its arched position seems holding tightly, like in a dance movement, Ginger the light sinuous glass tower.
Permasteelisa was responsible for the construction, design and erection of the glass envelope, the storefront, and the windows set of the façades. The complex definition surface was a real challenge and required an intense mount of engineering work. The entire process, from the conceptual models to the construction drawings, is done entirely in 3D, without the use of the traditional plan and section set of drawings.
25,000 sqm (269,100 sq ft) of architectural envelope.
