The UTS Central project represents a significant component of the broader UTS City Campus master plan. Located on the corner of Broadway and Jones Street, the project redefines the Broadway campus, creating additional connections and further enhancing the student experience of the academic ground. It significantly supports the university’s long-term strategic plan including relevant growth in research while positively contributing to the urban quality of the precinct. The 5-story podium accommodates scholarly reading rooms, learning commons, collaborative classrooms and theaters, and student services, hub/counters, while a 10-level tower houses additional research spaces along with the UTS Blake Library occupying levels 7-to 9. The project is targeting a 5 Star Green Star Design and As-Built rating certified by the Green Building Council of Australia.
The 10-story tower is made up of the mfree-SCCF (Moisture Free, Sustainable, Closed Cavity Façade) technology, combined with soffits and ledges that give to the building a "twisting" form.
